A Library Card and a Map: Finding Maynooth in the Stacks

A student’s first week in town turns into a love letter to the library, the canal, and the quiet corners between lectures.

I arrived with a library card application and a hand‑drawn map. By Friday, I knew which window seats caught the best light and which cafés refilled water bottles with a smile.

The river taught me the pace of the place—unhurried, steady, and always moving.

On Saturdays I walked the Greenway, collecting new names for familiar places: the triangular harbour, the castle green, the spire that anchors the skyline.
