A Coach’s Whistle: Saturday Mornings on the Pitch

From tying laces in the frost to shared flasks of tea—small rituals that turn players into teams and neighbours into friends.

We start with rondos while the sun climbs over the stand. Parents chat at the fence, swapping lift shares and recipes for post‑match pasta.

When the whistle goes, the sideline quiets. Voices travel: simple calls, encouragement, the cheer when someone tries something new.

Afterwards we leave the pitch better than we found it. That, more than the scoreline, feels like a win.
