Maynooth Cycling Campaign: Safe Routes to School Trial

Pop‑up lanes and marshalled junctions tested a safer school run—early data and next steps.

The Trial

Two mornings of marshalled crossings and a coned pop‑up lane along the Greenway approach. Parents reported shorter trips and calmer traffic.

Initial Findings

  • Average cycle time down by 3–5 minutes.
  • Higher uptake among 6–12 year olds with guardians.
  • Requests for permanent wands near the junction.

Full report to be shared with the council’s Active Travel team.
